Hello. I’m Barbara Alana Brooks. My art is an expression from my soul and reflects my joy with being alive on our beautiful planet right now. I am pleased to present my work.

Designs in a circle are often known as mandalas. Mandala is a Sanskrit word for circle. Mandalas are used to symbolize wholeness as in the circle of eternity. Worldwide spiritual traditions including the Hindu and Tibetan monks as well as the Native Americans used this form of art for healing and transformation. The Pennsylvania Dutch also created circular designs known as hex signs. These colorful geometric symbols were painted on their barns for protection and good luck. They can still be seen today in that region.

My personal fascination with geometric symmetrical symbols is that they calm the inner and outer chaos for the creator as well as the beholder of the picture. When I draw a new design, I set an intention to connect with the sacred energies of the universe and bring forth a symbol that will delight and balance myself as well as anyone else who may see it. All my symbols are originally hand drawn using pencil, pastels and acrylic paints. They are created in a vibration of love and harmony.

When I am not working on my art, I am a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and writer all of which bring me great joy and fulfillment.
